Fund a Scholarship

We award more than $1.4 million yearly in scholarships and financial aid to well-deserving students.

For 95 years, Pius XI Catholic High School has provided a solid foundation for nearly 30,000 alumni who have left here prepared to engage the world and make a difference. We firmly believe that anyone who wishes to make Pius XI their academic and spiritual home should have the opportunity to do so. Approximately 97% of our student body receives some form of need- or merit-based tuition assistance to make Pius XI an affordable, accessible option. These students and their families rely on the generosity of our donors and benefactors to make this transformational experience a reality.

Thank you for your interest in furthering our mission by supporting Pius XI students with a named scholarship. The scholarship you establish will not only provide significant opportunities via financial assistance, it will also provide an opportunity for you, as donors, to share your story and connection to Pius XI with the current generation of Popes.

Establishing a Scholarship

When establishing a scholarship, donors can specify the name of the scholarship, and may choose to honor or memorialize family members, teachers or another significant figure. Donors have the option to fund an annual or endowed scholarship. A Scholarship Description and a Memorandum of Understanding will be prepared and placed on file to provide the criteria for the scholarship awards. Copies of these documents will be provided to the scholarship donors. To establish a named scholarship, please contact Director of Advancement Kimberly Reyes at kreyes@piusxi.org or 414-290-0213.

Below are two options for establishing a named scholarship:

Annual Named Scholarships

Donors can create an annual named scholarship at Pius XI by committing to making a yearly gift totaling $1,500 or more for four years. This allows us to ensure that the scholar receives this award for each of their four years at Pius XI. The Named Scholarship remains active as long as the donor chooses to donate the funds; any lapse in funding will result in a lapse in the scholarship.

Endowed Named Scholarships

An endowed scholarship can be established at any time with a gift of $25,000 or more. The donor’s gift is invested in the market, with the principal preserved and investment earnings used to fund the scholarship award. Pius XI retains a financial management firm to oversee the investment and our Endowment Committee meets annually to review fund performance and determine distributions. Each year the fund distributes an amount (typically 5% of the principal amount) that is then awarded to one or more scholarship recipients depending on the terms of the scholarship agreement. Endowed Named Scholarships are permanent and remain active year-after-year because of the annual distribution. Endowed scholarships do not require an annual gift; additional gifts to the endowment fund are encouraged as they allow the scholarship amount and number of scholarships awarded to increase.
