Ways to Give

Recurring Monthly Gifts

Recurring monthly gifts are an easy way to support Pius XI in an ongoing way. You can elect to set up a recurring gift payment through your financial institution or by contacting our Director of Advancement Kimberly Reyes at kreyes@piusxi.org or 414-290-0213.

Matching Gifts

Many companies have matching gift programs for their employees which will match part or all of your gift to Pius XI Catholic High School. Some companies even match gifts made by retirees. Taking advantage of these gift-matching opportunities is a great way to multiply the impact of your gift and provide even greater benefit to our students!

To find out if your company has a matching gift program, contact your Human Resource Department or consult your employer's benefits guide. Most companies provide a way to submit your matching gift application online, and will contact us to verify that you made a gift. Please reach out to Database Coordinator Lori Pagel at lpagel@piusxi.org or 414-290-8130 for assistance with a matching gift.

IRA: Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) and Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)

If you hold an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) you must take a required minimum distribution (RMD) each year beginning at age 73. That RMD can increase your taxable income. A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) can be used to fulfill the IRA owner’s RMD for the year. The QCD allows individuals who are 70½ years old or older, as of the date of the distribution, to donate up to $100,000 to Pius XI directly from a taxable IRA without treating the distribution as taxable income. For married couples, each spouse can make a QCD up to the $100,000 limit for a potential total gift of $200,000. This option can be especially beneficial for those who do not itemize their deductions.

The IRA can be a Roth IRA, but may not be a SEP IRA or SIMPLE IRA to which the employer has contributed during the year in which the QCD would be made.

The distribution must be a direct transfer from the IRA trustee to the charity. The IRA owner cannot use the QCD as a way to reimburse themselves for gifts previously made on their own.

QCD information and instructions are available here.

Donor-Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable investment account that allows you to contribute money to support the charities you care about most. Funds can be invested for tax-free growth, and you can recommend grants to any eligible IRS-qualified public charity. A DAF provides you with the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to Pius XI Catholic High School. You can use your DAF to make a grant or recurring grants now, which will have an immediate impact, or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts. You receive a federal income tax charitable deduction at the time of your contribution to your DAF.
